Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.

As Writers, Year 6 have been exploring their new text- a story called 'The Hook'. They found clues around the classroom that hinted at what the story was about and listened to it by torchlight.
As Geographers, Year 2 used globes and atlases to identify the 7 continents and 5 oceans. We sang a song to help it "stick in our long term memory". Ask us to sing it!
A warm welcome to all of our brand new children at Heronswood Primary and Pre-School today and a warm welcome back to everyone else. It has been lovely seeing everyone's happy, smiley faces this morning on the playground and in classes.
Year 3 have been exploring the 'Changing Me' unit in our PSHE lessons by reflecting on how we feel about the changes we face and ways we can deal with these emotions. #pshejigsaw

Year 5 have had a fantastic day at King Charles Transition Day, where they have participated in a variety of lessons including Maths, Science, Drama, Art and PE. It was lovely to see the children working with their peers and children from other schools. I was very proud when I heard the following comment during Breaktime, "I've made some new friends!"
Years 3, 4 and 5 thoroughly enjoyed their day out in London yesterday. They made us super proud and were a credit to Heronswood.
As Mathematicians, Year 4 have been exploring co-ordinates.
The new Year 3s have been using resources to make 3-digit numbers during transition week! We really enjoyed meeting our new classes and learning together!
As Sportspeople, the new Year 4s have spent the afternoon playing team games. We particularly enjoyed playing 'cut the cake'!
