Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.

-Using a finger space after every word
-Using our Phonics and the sounds and tricky words we know to help us build words
As Geographers, Year 6 have been using six figure grid references to design their own sustainable cities.
As artists , Year 3 have been exploring John Bramblitt- who is an American artist who is blind! We created some art using his painting techniques.
Year 2 have had the most wonderful day exploring Warwick Castle. We got to climb up to the highest parts of the castle, see its grand rooms, watch an incredible birds or prey show and see the terrific trebuchet in action!
As Geographers, Year 6 have been learning about sustainable cities. They have been thinking about what they would include if they were to design their own sustainable city.
As Mathematicians, Year 4 have been calculating a unit fraction of an amount when the answer is a whole number. We realised how important knowing our times tables are for a lesson like this.
Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed their STEM workshop today. Their specification was to build an automated warehouse. The warehouse should: include shelving for items, be able to transport an item from one place to another and have a moving part! We have been so impressed with their focus, determination and resilience with this task.
To celebrate World Bee Day, the children in Pre-School have dressed up as little busy bees and have certainly been very busy, enjoying lots of different learning opportunities that were bee themed and made their own honey flapjacks to eat at home.
As Writers, Year 6 have been close reading a police report to identify the features of language structure and punctuation. Next week, we will write our very own police report!
