Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School

Uniform Information

Wearing school uniform plays a valuable role in helping our children to feel like they are part of the Heronswood family.

 

Wearing school uniform will:

  • Instill a sense of pride
  • Promote positive behaviour and discipline
  • Ensure pupils from all backgrounds feel welcome
  • Protect children from social pressures to dress in a particular way
  • Nurture cohesion and promote good relationships between different groups of pupils

 

Parents and Carers are asked to ensure that their children follow our dress code at all times. 

 

In addition, we request that all items of school uniform are clearly labelled with the child’s name as uniform is mislaid on a regular basis by children. 

Our uniform is available from our 2 suppliers:

 

School Uniform List for Heronswood Children 
  • School branded turquoise polo shirt and navy blue branded jumper or cardigan
  • Unbranded charcoal grey school trousers, shorts, skirts or dresses
  • Black sensible school shoes and trainers for PE days - not PE pumps
  • Unbranded white t-shirt and navy shorts for PE days along with an unbranded navy tracksuit for colder weather (no football kids or branded tracksuits)
  • Year 3 and Year 5 children only - One piece swimming costume, trunks or fitted swimming shorts (not baggy or below the knee for safety)
  • Branded navy book bag for (YR+ Y1 +Y2 children) and unbranded bag/rucksack for Years 3, 4, 5 & 6
  • Unbranded warm and waterproof coat for winter weather
  • Unbranded charcoal grey shorts or green check summer dresses for warmer weather
  • Little Herons, Pre-School, Reception and Year 1 children will need wellingtons & waterproof suits
  • Every child will need a drinks bottle – water only

 

 

We really appreciate donations of good quality, second hand uniform from our parents/carers which can then be reused and recycled as Pre-Loved Uniform.  Please speak to the school office if you require second hand uniform. 

 

Additional expectations

 

Jewellery

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear any jewellery in school; including rings, bracelets and necklaces.

 

Pierced ears

Where a child has pierced ears they are allowed to wear small, plain studs.

During PE activities the studs should be removed or if the studs are worn on that day they must be covered up and the child must arrive at school with studs already covered by tape.

 

Hair

Where a child has long hair it must be tied back at all times, for Health and Safety reasons and to reduce the spread of nits.

No extreme hair cuts styles are allowed. (The definition of extreme is at the discretion of the Head Teacher.) This could include: Shaved heads, Patterning, Tramlines or engraved hair including extreme or unnatural hair colour.

 

Make Up/Tattoos

No nail varnish or false nails

No make-up or false eye-lashes

No tattoo transfers
