At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.

  As Designers, Year 5 have been thinking about flooding and how it affects people's homes both locally and globally.

  As readers we have been reading the Bug Club story “From Seed to Sandwich”, learning about growing ingredients and making a sandwich with those. The Children then had the opportunity to make their own sandwiches for snack, talking about the ingredients they put on and then enjoying eating their own creation!

  As Sports People, Year 6 attend a Rowing festival, hosted by Wyre Forest School Sport Partnership. Our children and staff really enjoyed the festival and the healthy competition they had between each other.

• Heronswood Bake Off

  We wanted to say a huge 'thank you' and 'well done' for all of the Easter cakes in our Great Heronswood Bake Off. We were blown away by the quality of the entries. It took seven judges to decide on our finalists and, as it was so difficult, we chose eight overall winners! We were extremely tempted to take a slice of each but we resisted the urge. Thank you again to our families for putting in so much effort. Here are a few examples of your work.

  The children in Pre-School have had a wonderful week back from Easter and have settled in wonderfully. They have been enjoying many different learning opportunities through their new topic of Traditional Tales, this week focusing on The Three Little Pigs.
