Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School

Starting at Pre-School

Dear Parents and Carers,

In a couple of simple steps you can register your interest at Heronswood Tots or Pre-School setting. We need the 2 forms on this page to be completed and returned to the school office. One is a Microsoft Forms form and should be completed and submitted online.  The other can either be downloaded from here or alternatively, contact the school and we can post the form out to you.

Parents/Carers can register their interest at any stage and once we have received the completed session booking form, your child's place in Pre-School will be reserved.

We have three intakes each year into our Pre-School, one in Autumn, one in Spring and one in Summer, after the Easter holidays. This means that the term after your child turns three, they can start in our Pre-School, with their funded hours. Once your child has turned three, they can start straight away, but parents/carers would need to pay the fees until the funding starts the following term.

Please also note, that children can still join our setting mid-term, as long as another setting has not been claiming the funded hours.

Funding can also be split across two settings if needed.

Each year we hold a number of Open Days, for you to pop along and visit our Pre-School setting, look out for the posters on the school perimeter. In addition, you can arrange a visit by emailing hwoffice@riverscofe.co.uk or by calling the school office - 01562 69750.

In Heronswood Tots, we offer places from your child's second birthday.  We offer 15-hour funded places (including for working families from April 2024).  Families can apply and claim for the funding in the term following their child's second birthday.

If your child turns two during a school term they can still start with us the day after their second birthday but you will need to pay for their sessions until their funding becomes available.

In Pre School, we offer places from your child's third birthday.  We offer both 15 and 30 hour funded places for children to attend the term after their third birthday.

If your child turns three during a school term they can still start with us the day after their third birthday but you will need to pay for their sessions until their funding becomes available.

Please visit the government website to see if you are eligible for funded places.  https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

Please note that when you register your child with us we will also need a copy of their birth certificate.
