Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Grant

The Pupil Premium Grant is an additional Government funding grant given to schools to help raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. The Government believes that the pupil premium funding is the best way to address the current inequalities by giving schools autonomy to ensure it reaches the pupils who need it most. The aim is to close the learning gap of disadvantage pupils with their peers and to eliminate any disparity in attainment.

At Heronswood we receive the pupil premium grant for every child in school who is or has been registered for Free School Meals, who is a Looked After Child, who is a Post Looked After Child or who has a parent in the armed forces.

The additional money received is used mainly to fund additional support staff to work with small groups, to run intervention sessions and to purchase additional resources which can be used during intervention sessions and personalised programmes.

If you think that your child may be eligible for Free School Meals (even if you prefer them to bring in their own lunch each day) please claim.  This will be confidential and your child will not be identified or discriminated against in any way but it will help to provide much needed additional funds for the school.  To register for Free School Meals - click on this Link - Free School Meals
