Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.
Click on any of the News Posts below to find out what exciting things our children have been up to.
As Geographers, Year 3 have been locating cities in the U.K and then using a key to identify physical and human features.
As Musicians, Year 2 have been listening to the Russian composer Tchaikovsky who wrote "The Nutcracker" and responded to the two parts of music through illustrations. We remembered the different musical elements from last year and used these to describe what we heard.
It is that time of year again when Pre-School children need to apply for their school places in Reception. If you would like to book a visit for Heronswood Primary School then please call or email the office. 01562 69750 / hwoffice@riverscofe.co.uk

As Artists, Year 4 have been inspired by the work of Stephen Wiltshire and drawn some shapes using a vanishing point.
Year 4 have enjoyed coming back to school today. We have been playing team games this morning in the beautiful weather.
As Writers, Year 6 have been exploring their new text- a story called 'The Hook'. They found clues around the classroom that hinted at what the story was about and listened to it by torchlight.
As Geographers, Year 2 used globes and atlases to identify the 7 continents and 5 oceans. We sang a song to help it "stick in our long term memory". Ask us to sing it!
A warm welcome to all of our brand new children at Heronswood Primary and Pre-School today and a warm welcome back to everyone else. It has been lovely seeing everyone's happy, smiley faces this morning on the playground and in classes.
