Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.

As readers, the children in Pre-School have been exploring the story, “The Gingerbread Man”. They have enjoyed engaging in a variety of learning opportunities such as making rafts for the Gingerbread Man, exploring the characters in the story through small world play, Printing with Gingerbread Man cookie cutters and lots more.
This week in Maths Reception have been exploring the concept of doubling. We met the doubling machine & learnt his song ( ask us to sing it for you!). We even became doubling machines ourselves using mirrors, ladbybirds and butterflies to solve our doubling problems.
We explored different ways to show doubling in our maths jotters and some of us drew the doubling machine in our maths jotters.
