Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.

Year Six had a fantastic visit to the Wyre Forest Fire Station to take part in the Young Citizens Challenge this week. They took part in workshops including: West Mercia Police, Hereford and Worcester Fire Service, Western Power, The Safer Roads Partnership, and The Severn Rescue Association, to mention just a few. The children had a great experience when put in some challenging real-life situations.
As Writers the children in Pre-School have been creating their own drawings of themselves on the beach, adding details and colours that they relate to being at the seaside, such as sand, sea, sandcastles, ice creams and more.
Year 5 are enjoying learning about the history of LEGO. Today we have researched some additional facts to use in our report at the end of the unit. Did you know that the name LEGO comes from the Danish phrase 'leg godt' which means playing well?
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 thoroughly enjoyed our Careers Day this afternoon. The children practised being nurses, engineers, architects, micro-biologists, plumbers, support workers for charity, chartered surveyors and fire fighters. A big thank you to our visitors for offering such inspiration to our learners!
As Mathematicians, Year 2 have been investigating the capacity of different containers using litres and millilitres.
The artists in 3HM welcomed their parents and carers into school to view our Exhibition today. It was wonderful to see so many of you! The children thought carefully about how to display their sculptures and were able to discuss their work confidently with our visitors.
As Artists, Year 4 have been inspired by the work of Jane Perkins and worked in groups to create their own collages using recycled materials and Maths resources.
The artists in 3LJ loved showcasing their fantastic sculptures and art sketchbooks with their grown ups in our exhibition this afternoon!
