At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.

  Year 3 have been using partitioning to divide by a single digit number where the quotient is a teens number. We used numberlines and beads to support our method. #year3maths

  

• Year 5 Mathematicians

  As Mathematicians, Year 5 enjoyed sharing their knowledge with their parents. We were so thrilled to have so many parents in school.

  

• Reception Animal Lady

  Today the children in Reception enjoyed a visit from the Animal Lady. We touched and held lots of different animals including a honey bear, a snake, an owl, a cockroach, a bearded dragon and a tortoise!

  

• Year 1 Scientists

  As Scientists, Year 1 described the difference between evergreen and deciduous trees. We sorted them and did leaf rubbings.

  

• Pre-School Animal Lady Visit

  The children in Pre-School loved having a visit from the animal lady, holding and learning about many animals such as Honey Bear, Gecko, Corn Snake, Owl, Bearded Dragon, Tortoise and a Tenrec. Mrs Pierpoint loved the Little Owl!
