Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.

To celebrate World Mental Health Day, Year 3 have been thinking about different feelings. They have enjoyed playing a board game, where they thought of a time when they experienced a particular feeling. They went outside and did a scavenger hunt linked with feelings and they've done some mindfulness.
Thank you to those who could attend our KS1 Reading Workshop today. It was great to share our Phonics and Guided Reading lessons with you. Happy Grandparents Day! We welcomed grandparents into school today to spend some time reading with their grandchild/grandchildren. 8 of our Year 6 children also visited Herons Park Nursing Home to deliver letters and cards to the residents there. A special day celebrating special people!
Over the coming weeks, Year 5 will be creating fidget blankets. We are looking for donations of fabric, felt, buttons, pompoms, zips, ribbons and beads in order to bring the children's designs to life! Please pass on any donations to Mrs Tristram, Mrs Bingham or Mrs Kingston. Thank you!
As artists, the children in Pre-School have been exploring what they look like using a mirror. They have been creating self portraits and eyes for our All About Me display. They have all created some amazing paintings!
