Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.

The WEST team has spent some time with Year 6 discussing our wellbeing. This has been especially useful with an important few weeks and months to come.
As Gymnastics preschool have enjoyed cosmic yoga by exploring movement, balance and flexibility while practicing, concentrating and following instructions.They all used their imagination as they imitated the actions.
As Design Technologists, Year 4 are very excited to start their new unit about electricity.
Another busy week in Year One! The children loved discovering ways to encourage nature in British Science week, they are getting better at controlling a ball with a racket in PE and they enjoyed grouping and labelling in computing!

Year 6 have been looking at mechanisms in DT. We have been thinking about complex machines that can complete a simple task.
Year 5 have made some fantastic attempts at drawing self portraits in the style of Picasso, can you recognise anyone!?
This week, Year 1 have loved using our iPads as a tool to support learning. We sorted animals in Science, spotted digraphs within words in Guided Reading and recorded our reasoning in Maths lessons. Here are some examples of the things we have been doing.
As Historians, Year 2 had a very special visit from 'Captain Smith', the Captain of the Titanic. We had the opportunity to ask him questions about the night of the disaster, why it was known as the 'unsinkable ship', and the legacy that it left behind.
