Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.
Click on any of the News Posts below to find out what exciting things our children have been up to.
As Artists, Year 4 have been practising their shading skills. They (and we) are so proud of the progress they have made!
Using the balance bikes helps us to develop our co-ordination and balance.
As sports people, Year 6 have been reading a map in our school grounds whilst orienteering.
As Mathematicians, Year 5 have investigated the nets of cubes. We have learnt that nets of cubes have six squares and the arrangement is important.
As Writers, a small group of Year 6 children visited Kings School in Worcester and the Cathedral today. They listened to spooky stories and then began to plan their own. We cannot wait to hear them when they are finished!
As Geographers, Reception have been exploring different types of maps this week. First, we took picture of our classroom and used them to create a 2D map. Next, we used 3D objects to create a ‘messy map’ using a range of materials. We used different maps in the classroom to have a go at navigating around and we went on a walk to explore the many different maps we have around our school.
As part of our Marvellous Me topic the children in Pre-School have been exploring thier feelings and emotions through a variety of fun learning opportunities.
As Linguists, Year 5 have been desribing their homes.
As Artists, Year 6 have been creating illusions using line and shading techniques. We have some children who are very proud of the pieces that they have created- and very proud teachers too!
