Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.

As designers, Year 6 have been sampling plant based products as part of their plans for ‘Meat Free Mondays’. They have thought carefully about how a product looks, tastes and smells.

In Reception this week we have continued to think about ourselves and our families. We started the week by looking at ourselves in mirrors in preparation for painting our self portraits which are looking great. We have been learning about how different families are connected and we also have been learning our family names. A great week of learning Reception well done.
As Geographers, Year 3 investigated the local area. They asked and answered questions during our field trip and drew a simple map of our route around Spennells. #exploringspennells
As Geographers, Year 2 walked around our local area identifying human and physical features. We compared two different locations spotting similarities and differences between greenery, houses, cars and cleanliness.
Year 3 have been exploring ordering 3 digit numbers on Seesaw this morning
As Readers, Year 5 have started to explore a new text in English. We 'visited' a Viking mead hall and used our inference skills to make predictions about the text. Ask your child what they can remember from the sources and the first chapter of the grim tale!
This morning, the WEST team delivered an assembly to our Year 5 children. It enabled the children to consider strategies to overcome low mood. Ask your child what strategies they can remember.
Thank you to all of the families who attended this year's Harvest Festival and for all of the donations made. The children and staff had a wonderful time performing and eating cake and we hope that those of you who attended enjoyed it too!
