At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.

  We have loved seeing all of the children's entries for our electricity-themed Science competition. The children were thinking about how we can stay safe around electricity and how we can save electricity. Winners will be announced soon!

• Year 2 Musicians

  As Musicians, Year 2 have been creating soundscapes to represent different scenes in the UK like the seaside, countryside and city. They have used their body, voice and classroom objects to represent the sounds we would hear. This week, we began to think about composition which involves creating a beginning, middle and end. We will add in percussion instruments next week!

  It was all about Christmas at today's last Art Club of 2023! We created our own biscuit designs and completed our tealight holders using glass pens. They looked beautiful all lit up as the children were collected outside. #weareartists #christmasartsandcrafts

• Year 5/6 Parents and Carers Maths Workshop

  Our Y5 and Y6 parents/carers came to visit us in school on Wednesday for a Maths Workshop. We loved sharing our knowledge of key strategies and problem solving with them.
