Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.

Our amazing Y6 pupils enjoyed an afternoon of revision and rounders today after completing their first SATs tests. They are all working so hard and can’t wait to take on their next ones! Keep up the hard work, we are all proud of you!
The writers in Reception have been sharing their brilliant work during our Early Bird challenge each morning.
Each morning we have phonics and writing challenges to complete. We are writing about nocturnal animals at the moment as that is what we are learning about in our afternoon lessons.
Home challenge - could you share a fact about nocturnal or diurnal animals with your family? Could you write your fact down?
Send them in to us on Seesaw to share with the class.
As Global Citizens in DT, Year 5 have been learning about flooding and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
As Food Technologists, Year 2 prepared some delicious dips and crudites. We used peeling, cutting and dicing skills to create them!
As mathematicians, the Pre-School children have been exploring AB patterns, patterns with only two parts repeating in a sequence and recreating their own patterns through a variety of learning opportunities. Building towers with blocks, printing caterpillar paintings, copying and continuing patterns through colouring and using the compare bears.
Year 2 had a brilliant time on their woodland walk this afternoon. We were very lucky with the weather and the children were fantastic role models for Heronswood.
We are really excited to be re-starting our baby and toddler group, Little Herons, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from week beginning 16th May. The group will be held in our mobile and can be accessed from the staff car park where you will find a green pedestrian gate with a bell on it. Ring the bell and wait for Mrs Paxton or one of the other helpers to buzz you in. We can't wait to see you at the first session on Tuesday 17th May.
