Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School
At Heronswood, we strive to make the time our children spend at school as fun, exciting, engaging and as memorable as possible. We recognise that children learn best when they have an emotional connection to the activities they are participating in. We do this through a stimulating, vibrant curriculum but also by bringing in outside people and by taking the children out on trips and visits.
Please see our Facebook Page - Heronswood Primary School and Pre-School for our most recent updates since May 2025.

Thank you so much for supporting our sponsored Skip-a-thon organised by our School Council children. All children completed a timed challenge in their PE lessons and have been enjoying extra skipping at lunchtimes! Today, a selection of skippers performed a super skipping routine to parents. Well done skippers and thank you so much for your donations. Funds raised will be going towards new basketball goal ends.

Thank you for your votes! I'm sure you'll agree that all the scarecrows were brilliant and children have had a fantastic time designing, creating and building their scarecrows. Take a look! Happy half term everyone.
As Sportspeople, some of our oldest children visited Kidderminster Harriers Training Academy to take part in a football tournament today. All of our players showed excellent sportsmanship on and off the pitch. They really enjoyed playing mini matches against other local schools. Heronswood were also awarded a trophy for "Equal Access" from the FA celebrating our dedication to ensure all sporting opportunities are available for all children and teams are representative of all children. Well done footballers!
As Physicists, Year 5 have been investigating the effects of water-resistance on different shaped objects. We learnt that streamlined objects create less water-resistance.

As Writers, Year 1 have started their new text, Hansel and Gretel. We came up with some fantastic descriptive vocabulary about the cottage using our senses. We enjoyed looking at thick, gloopy icing and tasting tangy, sour sweets!
As Design Technologists, Year 2 have been learning how to sew a running stitch, and add embellishments in preparation for making their own glove puppet. We are amazed by their skills already!
As Writers, Year 1 have written and followed instructions to make more porridge for Goldilocks.
